Fremantle Football Club, Player Sponsor, Oscar McDonald

Oscar McDonald joined Fremantle after signing a two-year deal in 2023 for the 2024 and 2025 seasons and has resigned for the 2026 season.

Oscar was drafted in 2014 and made his AFL draft debut in 2015 with Melbourne Football Club where he played until 2020, accumulating 81 games. He was picked up by Carlton for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2023 he joined VFL Club, Williamstown, and was named full back in the 2023 VFL team of the year. “I had a really enjoyable time at Williamstown, but my main goal was to get back into the AFL and to have an opportunity to do that via the Fremantle Footy Club – it’s a great honour and I’m really privileged.”

Oscar is respected for the level of professionalism he applies to his game and is recognised as being a strategic footballer, who plays well across the ground as a tall forward, defender or in the ruck. In the 2025 season, he played several games as the club continued to use him for defensive depth.

Oscar has a Bachelor of Science (Physiology) from the University of Melbourne and has plans to work in Commerce in the future.
