Recruited from VFL Club Williamstown, McDonald has joined Fremantle after signing a two-year deal on day one of the AFL delisted free agency period.
The 28-year-old played 86 AFL games with Melbourne and Carlton (2015 to 2022) and has joined the Fremantle Football Club for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Oscar was named at full back in the VFL team of the year in 2023.
“I had a really enjoyable time at Williamstown, but my main goal was to get back into the AFL and to have an opportunity to do that via the Fremantle Footy Club – it’s a great honour and I’m really privileged.”
Oscar’s professionalism, dedication to the game and resilience in light of recovery from an early season injury in 2024 has been inspiring to watch.
Oscar has a Bachelor of Science (Physiology) from the University of Melbourne and has plans to work in Commerce in the future.
